By registering for and participating in General Learning Hacks, you agree to abide by the following rules. Please read them carefully to ensure your team remains eligible for prizes.
1. Eligibility & Attendance
-
Team Size: You must compete solo or in a team of 2 to 4 members.
-
Location: This is an in-person event hosted in Hong Kong. All team members must be present at the venue to pitch and claim prizes. We do NOT sponsor flights or accommodation.
-
Registration: Registering on Devpost is required for project submission.
2. Project Requirements
-
Fresh Code: To ensure a level playing field, all project code, design, and assets must be created during the 24-hour hackathon period. You may not submit a pre-existing project.
-
Exception: You may use open-source libraries, publicly available frameworks, and APIs, provided you disclose them. If you are building on top of a previous project, you must clearly document what was built before the hackathon and what was built during the hackathon.
-
Functioning Prototype: Your submission must be a functional prototype or application. Clickable mockups or slide decks without working code are not eligible for the main prizes.
-
Thematic Focus: Projects should align with the AI and EdTech theme, tackling problems related to learning, productivity, or education.
3. Submission Rules
All projects must be submitted through our official Devpost page by 9:00 AM HKT on Sunday, September 20, 2026. A complete submission must include:
-
Project Description: A detailed written overview of your solution, the problem it solves, and the technologies used.
-
Code Repository: A link to a public GitHub repository containing your project code.
-
Demo Video: A 2-minute (maximum) video demonstrating your working project. This must be uploaded to YouTube, Vimeo, or Youku, and the link must be included in your Devpost submission.
-
One Entry: Each team may only submit one project.
4. Intellectual Property
-
Ownership: Teams retain full ownership of the intellectual property (IP) and code they create during the hackathon.
5. Code of Conduct
We are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and harassment-free experience for everyone. Any participant violating our community guidelines, whether through discriminatory behavior, plagiarism, or cheating, will be immediately disqualified and removed from the event.
6. Rule Changes & Decisions
The organizing committee (General Learning and any partners) reserves the right to amend these rules or extend deadlines at any time, though we will strive not to disadvantage any participants. All judging decisions are final.
